Grew up living in various parts of California. Born in San Jaquin Valley, then raised in San Francisco Bay Area as well as the Central Coast. Justin sees San Luis Obispo County as being his true roots. Over the past twenty two years Chef Justin has moved around the country with the occasional return home. Bringing with him experiences from North Carolina, Florida and Nevada.
If SLO is his roots then Las Vegas became the spot Justin blossomed. Over a twelve year period his career grew to be well established in the community as one of its beloved Chefs. Becoming well known for his pop ups, festival appearances, and charity work.
Chef Justin's work over an open flame is probably the prolific image fellow chefs and guest have when his name is brought up. 2017 Justin co-created Whiskey in the Wilderness; a locally focused charity event that brings local chefs, bartenders and guest out the the red rock canyons to enjoy an open fire food and beverage experience that benefits local charities.
It's not the only time he's found on a fire. Justin hosts an open fire "Cookout" yearly at Life is Beautiful, Vegas' premiere three day music festival.
Anywhere he can find to set a fire he's known to cook a meal for a few dozen or thousand. Fire is where he's most comfortable because it is a natural gather spot for people to talk and find comfort.
His cooking can also be seen on T.V. : Chopped, Man Fire Food, Secrets of a Chef, and Food Paradise. Each show highlighting his experience.
Is diverse and met with continued success and accolades. Over Justin's twenty year culinary experience he has worked in various part of the industry. Upscale restaurants, specialty events, festivals, consulting, education, catering and television have given him a wealth of knowledge that he uses to apply to each position he's held. Gaining him acknowledgment from local and state media in Las Vegas for Best New Restaurant (twice), Best Neighborhood Restaurant, Best Downtown Restaurant, and several others.
Continous recognition from media as well as support form others in the culinary community gave him opportunities to appear on national television and an Invitation to respresent Las Vegas at the James Beard House with the City's top Neighgorhood restaurants. Over the years Chef Justin has been asked to cook in many cities around the U.S. and Canada. His style of Modern American Wood fire cooking considered a fresh interpretation.
